City reports stairs and ramp at TD Place’s Gate 4 removed for Event Centre loading dock

The City of Ottawa reports that the stairs and ramp leading to Gate 4, by the north side stands at TD Place, were taken down to make room for the Event Centre’s loading dock. The City says TD Place events stay accessible through the other gates.

What the City has reported

The City’s January 7 2026 newsletter listed the removal of the stairs and ramps outside Gate 4 as planned work, and said access to TD Place events would continue at all other gates while the Event Centre is built.

Its August 7 2026 newsletter reported that crews had begun taking down the ramp and stairs at Gate 4, by the north side stands, and that the work started in July. The City said the demolition clears space for a loading dock that will give service access between the Event Centre and Exhibition Way.

The September 11 2026 newsletter reported that the ramps and stairs near the eastern edge of the north side stands had been demolished, so loading dock construction could go ahead. That issue does not name Gate 4. It said crews had started building support walls so they can safely dig out the loading dock.

As of October 9 2026, the City has not posted an October newsletter.

Getting in on game days

TD Place’s accessibility page lists Gates 1, 2 and 3 as open on REDBLACKS game days, with ramp access at Gate 1 for guests with limited mobility. Gate 4 is not listed as an entrance. The REDBLACKS’ transportation page says Gate 4 is no longer an accessible entry point, and that accessible entry is now at Gate 1 and Frank Clair Way.

What stays open

The City’s newsletters say Lansdowne remains open for business during construction, and its construction notices say access to the underground garage from Queen Elizabeth Drive and from Exhibition Way stays open. The Great Lawn and the sledding hill are closed to the public until the Event Centre is complete, the City says.

Part of Exhibition Way is also closed to vehicles for separate utility work that the City has scheduled to end Friday October 16 2026.
