The team

The BlackJacks describe themselves as the CEBL’s first expansion franchise. The league has 10 teams, five in each conference.

TD Place’s OSEG page names the BlackJacks and Atlético Ottawa as its sports team tenants.

Jason Winters is the team’s president. The team’s staff page lists James Derouin as general manager and Justin Mazzulla as head coach. Derouin re-signed on November 21 2025 for the 2026 season. Mazzulla was named head coach on January 22 2026, and the league says he was the youngest head coach in CEBL history, at 27 years and 26 days. The team has not announced its general manager or head coach for 2027.

How the 2026 season ended

Each CEBL team played 24 regular-season games in 2026. Ottawa, the Niagara River Lions and the Montreal Alliance finished with the same record, and Ottawa took third place on differentials.

The conference semi-finals were single games. The CEBL’s playoff preview listed Ottawa as the East’s No. 3 seed against the No. 2 seed, the Brampton Honey Badgers, at CAA Centre in Brampton. Brampton won 95 to 91, according to the Honey Badgers.

The Winnipeg Sea Bears won the 2026 championship, beating Brampton 98 to 84 on August 15 2026.

The CEBL’s 2026 awards, announced on August 20 2026, named Javonte Smart to the All-CEBL First Team and Matthew Cleveland to the All-CEBL Second Team. Alex Fudge was one of two finalists for Defensive Player of the Year, which went to Kellen Tynes of Scarborough. Smart moved into second place in total points in 2026 and ended the regular season with 951 points, 15 short of first place.

The 2027 season

No 2027 game is listed on the team’s home page. TD Place’s upcoming events page runs to March 21 2027 and lists no basketball. The CEBL’s FAQ gives no release date for the 2027 schedule.

The team published its 2026 schedule on January 21 2026. That schedule set the home opener for May 12 2026 at 7:30 pm.

No 2027 player signing has been announced. The newest entry on the CEBL’s transactions page is dated August 6 2026.

Tickets

A 2027 season seat is one seat for every 2027 regular-season home game at TD Place, according to the team’s season seat page. The page does not state the number of games. Bronze, at $260, is the lowest-priced category, and Courtside North/South Row 1, at $1,745, is the highest. Taxes and fees are included, except a one-time order fee of $1.50.

The page lists these member benefits: priority access to playoff tickets, a member hat, two Silver ticket vouchers, 20% off extra tickets and 15% off eligible merchandise.

The page says the 2027 renewal period has now closed. It offers new 2027 memberships under the heading “Become a 2027 Member”. It does not show a deposit or a payment plan. For season seats it gives 613-294-1133.

Tickets are sold through Ticketmaster. The team’s “BlackJacks Insider” email list offers ticket presales.

The TD Place box office is at 1015 Bank Street. It is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and from 2 hours before an event on event days.

Getting to a game

The arena holds up to 9,000 guests for arena sports and entertainment. TD Place does not give a capacity for basketball.

TD Place’s BlackJacks game-day page suggests arriving 60 minutes ahead. OC Transpo routes 6 and 7 stop at TD Place, and transit is free with an event ticket from 3 hours before the event to 3 hours after. At the fare gates of LRT stations, ticket holders use the “video chat” function on the ticket machines to reach a customer service agent, who issues a pass.

For drivers, the game-day page lists the underground garage and recommends buying parking in advance through Ticketmaster. It does not show a game-day parking price or a bag policy. Accessible parking is a limited number of on-site spaces for permit holders, first come, first served. Underground parking is not available when there is an Ottawa REDBLACKS game.

Sources differ on bike parking. TD Place’s BlackJacks game-day page says there are 285 bike rings across Lansdowne Park. The City of Ottawa’s Lansdowne Park page reports more than 600 bike parking spaces. Neither source explains the difference.

Wheelchair assistance is available with 24 hours’ notice. For stadium events, TD Place’s game-day page gives a Para Transpo pick-up and drop-off point near Gate 1. It does not give one for the arena. The page gives the phone number 1-844-FAN-INFO (326-4636).

The new Event Centre

A new Event Centre replaces the existing arena, according to the City of Ottawa’s Lansdowne 2.0 Q&A. The Q&A names the BlackJacks among the teams the Event Centre will host.

The City’s project page gives the Event Centre’s construction period as the fourth quarter of 2025 to the third quarter of 2028. It lists CEBL games among the events that continue at TD Place during construction.

The Event Centre has 5,850 seats plus standing areas and holds 6,600 for hockey, according to the City. The City does not state a capacity for basketball.

An opening date has not been announced, and neither has a first BlackJacks season in the building. The team’s season seat page and its ownership release of September 4 2025 do not mention the Event Centre.

How to watch

In 2026, CBC Sports showed selected games on CBC TV, and all games streamed on CBC Gem, the CBC Sports YouTube channel and CEBL+, the league’s streaming service. CEBL+ has a free plan. The CEBL’s FAQ does not show a paid price.

TSN joined for the 2026 playoffs, August 6 to 16 2026. All games were on TSN+ and the majority of games were on TSN, alongside CBC, CBC Gem, YouTube and CEBL+.

The 2027 broadcast arrangement has not been announced.

Community programs

The team announced the BlackJacks Everywhere Tour on August 28 2026. The tour takes basketball and community programming to schools, gyms and organizations in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario. The team’s release names Carleton Place, Smiths Falls, Brockville, Cornwall, Kemptville and Clarence-Rockland. It names two programs: the School Day Roadshow and BlackJacks Mini Camps.

Mini Camps are three-hour clinics on weekends and school PD days, for ages 7 to 10 and 11 to 14. The team’s Mini Camps page shows a morning session from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and an afternoon session from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and shows the date as to be announced. It lists a price of $49 and shows $99 as the regular price. The price is expected to include two Bronze tickets to a BlackJacks game at TD Place and a t-shirt, the page says, and final pricing and inclusions are subject to confirmation.

The team’s home page lists a Mini Camp on October 17 2026 at the Clarence-Rockland YMCA in Rockland, for ages 7 to 14. The home page does not show a time or a price for that camp.

In the School Day Roadshow, team staff run a 45 to 60 minute session in a school gym, and schools apply by form. The team’s Roadshow page does not show a cost to schools.

History

The CEBL launched the Ottawa BlackJacks in November 2019, according to the team’s schedule release of November 26 2019, which gives 2020 as the first season. The team’s ownership release of September 4 2025 dates the team’s inception to 2020.

Canadian Basketball Ventures LP owned the team from 2020, the ownership release says. It sold the team to Diamond Sports Canada Inc., a subsidiary of Global Sports Fund Management Group. The release places the base of operations in New South Wales, Australia. It names Bandeli (Lee) Hagipantelis and Justin Pascoe as the owners, and Pascoe also as CEO. The release calls them “the first privately funded group with an ownership stake in the BlackJacks and the first international owners in CEBL history.”

In 2025 the team finished second in the Eastern Conference and reached the conference semi-finals. A CEBL article of August 9 2025 said the BlackJacks, as the second seed, were to host a playoff game at Centre Slush Puppie in Gatineau, Quebec.
