Here is a look at the major companies involved in the Lansdowne Park redevelopment project.

ACS Corporate headquarters: Madrid, Spain
Year founded: 1983

What it does: It’s considered one of the biggest construction companies in the world with several subsidiaries. Dragados, a construction company under the ACS umbrella, is also involved in the Ottawa LRT project.

Past projects: The 91,000-employee company says nearly half of its sales are in the Asia Pacific. It has been involved in work on the New York subway and highways in Europe, U.S. and Canada.

ELLISDON
Corporate headquarters: London, Ont.
Year founded: 1951
What it does: The Canadian construction company has offices across the country, including one in Ottawa.

   
 

Past projects: The company is a major contractor for the Lansdowne Park renovation. One the company’s most famous design-build projects was SkyDome (now the Rogers Centre) in Toronto. It’s currently renovating and expanding the Union Station subway infrastructure.

SNC-LAVALIN
Corporate headquarters: Montreal
Year founded: 1911

What it does: SNC-Lavalin is one of Canada’s largest construction and engineering companies with vast international experience.
Past projects: Recent transportation projects include the Canada Line rapid transit system in Vancouver, Montreal metro extension to Laval, Calgary LRT west extension and rail projects in France.

VEOLIA TRANSPORTATION
Corporate headquarters: Lombard, Ill.
Year founded: 1853 (parent company Veolia Environmental)
What it does: The 18,000-employee company plans and manages transportation systems, particularly when it comes to integrating light rail and bus networks.
Past projects: Veolia currently operates York Region’s bus rapid transit system, as well as bus systems in Las Vegas and Colombia. The company runs LRT systems in San Diego and France.

ALSTOM
Headquarters: Levallois-Perrett, France
Year founded: 1928

What it does: Alstom is manufacturing the Citadis LRT trains, with an assembly plant planned for Ottawa. The company currently has an office in Ottawa.

Past projects: The company has provided “rolling stock” for transit systems across the world, including those in France, the Netherlands, Italy, Australia and Shanghai. OC Transpo recently bought six new Alstom trains for the O-Train line.

The Toronto-based architectural firm has an impressive resume, including current projects at the London Bridge Tower in England and the World Trade Center in New York City.

DR. SAUER GROUP
This tunnelling expert is headquartered in Austria, Washington and London. The firm’s work on more than 400 tunnels has spanned the globe.

BBB ARCHITECTS
This architectural firm will be well-known to Ottawa residents. Principal Ritchard Brisbin was the head architect of the Convention Centre. Now he’s adding his touch to the LRT stations.

FAST + EPP
A structural engineering firm headquartered in Vancouver, Fast + Epp’s transportation projects include stations in B.C., Seattle and Saudi Arabia.

HATCH MOTT MACDONALD
The New Jerseyheadquartered firm has specialties in transportation systems and tunnels.

IBI GROUP
Another firm that might be familiar to Ottawa residents, the company has specialties in design, engineering and transportation.

MMM GROUP
This project management firm, which has an Ottawa office, has a transportation portfolio that includes rail lines and airports.

SERECA FIRE CONSULTING
The Richmond, B.C. company is an expert in engineering for safety compliance.

SCOTIA CAPITAL
A financial partner with Rideau Transit Group, it’s now called Scotiabank Global Banking and Markets.

L2 ADVISORS
L2 is a tunnelling consultant, bolstering the underground team.

THURBER ENGINEERING
The firm, which has an Ottawa office, has expertise in geotechnical and environmental engineering.
