Lansdowne Park Opening Celebration & Upcoming Construction Activities

On Saturday, August 16 from 11a.m. to 3p.m. you are invited to celebrate the opening of Lansdowne Park with an old-fashioned carnival and picnic. The event is free, and there will be a wide range of activities for all ages, including carousel and ferris wheel rides, music, sports, games, crafts, historical and interactive exhibits and more.

After the event, the urban park will be open to the public, though a few areas of the park will be fenced off until construction is fully completed. Continuing construction activities across the site may occasionally necessitate the temporary closure of small sections to ensure public safety and allow for construction mobility. Programmed activities are anticipated to begin later in the fall.

Early next week, the contractor will need to temporarily close Holmwood between Bank and Adelaide to connect a fire hydrant. Local traffic access will be maintained.

Over the next few weeks exterior brick and roof work and window installation on the new north wall of the Horticulture Building will be completed. Other construction activities will start to move inside the Horticulture Building as the mechanical and electrical systems are installed.

In the retail area work will generally be focused inside the buildings as the retail space is prepared for the new tenants. Landscaping work will continue over the next few weeks along Bank Street and between the retail buildings.

With construction at the stadium and most of the urban park now complete, the intensity of construction activities across the site will be reduced.
